| Water
immediately after planting:
Place
a hose at the base of the plant and allow the water to run
at a slow trickle until the soil is completely saturated.
Mulching:
If
adding a mulch to the planting area make sure to keep the
mulch 3 inches away from the trunk of the plant.
PLEASE
NOTE:
Watering:
This is critical to newly planted trees and shrubs. For the
first one to two years it is important to irrigate your new
tree or shrub. Follow the watering technique mentioned above
or ask our staff for other techniques.
Fertilizing:
When following the above planting instructions, we do not
recommend commercial fertilizing for the first year after
planting. After the first year has passed, you can apply a
general purpose fertilizer that has an even mixture (ie. 16-16-16)
or a sustained release formula. Please note that water soluble
plant food only provides a quick burst of fertilizer to the
plant. |
